Awaiting The Reply, Robert Charles Dudley, 1866

During the most isolating stretch of the 2020 coronavirus lockdown, I found myself missing football–as I’m sure did many of you. Games were suspended while the world itself was practically put on hold. Touchline Theory, the blog and podcast, were born out of those lonely doldrums.

But I also started another quiet, little project.

My goal was to research and collect footage of some of the greatest games ever played. Something to occupy the time, but also something to learn from, analyze, and carry into the future. There had been so many teams and players I’d read or heard about, but never seen with my own two eyes. Suddenly, that changed–and it was beautiful.

Today, I make that folder public to all Touchline Theory subscribers.

A gift, for all of you.

Access the archives by joining the email list in the top right, or down below.

Tell all your friends. Help me share the post on Twitter, too, to help history reach the masses.

Enjoy.

’til next time.
